Eunexus Urges Online Organisations To Continue Consumer Education (archived)

The one year anniversary of the first Storm Worm attack should serve as a reminder of the constant, and increasing threat that social engineering can play in cyberspace, and the importance of consumers maintaining appropriate PC security. Eunexus urges companies involved in eCommerce and other online transactions to continue their consumer education campaigns in this space.
Whilst online organisations are able to improve the security controls of their own organisation it is the weaknesses which are outside of their control which are the weakest ink in the 'online security chain'. However, whilst online organisations cannot directly enhance the security controls of the consumer PC they can assist in the ongoing education of their customers. Communication and re-enforcement to the consumer of the importance of anti-virus, up-to-date security patches and a firewall is crucial.
